nickname: another way to say...but not "short for."

I get a kick out of other peoples’ nicknames for things. Always have, always will. I wish there were a dictionary of nicknames. That would be a book worthy of investment. One of my friend’s call Parmesan cheese “sprinkle cheese” because her family always buys the green shaker bottle. Te he. Also, in a recent episode of Parks and Recreation (which I will miss greatly until it returns in the fall) one of the characters spouts off a handful of nicknames, my favorite being “bean blankets” for tortillas. Another favorite of mine is “air bunnies” for quotation marks.

why do people keep calling me Mo or Mo Mo? grrr.

Amen! NY bestseller for sure. Growing up there was a girl called Duckie, yet her name was Laura. Crazy huh?

Eat My Words

I was once prescribed to keep a journal. I was told, write anything down- mundane occurrences, incoherent thoughts, complete nonsense- ramble on and on if I must. I did such and quickly found "what a power there is in words; later for those who hear them, but first for the one who finds them; a healing power, a solution, like the breaking of a barrier" [ayn rand]. I learned that "it helps to write it down even if you then cross it out" [nada surf]. I mean, think about it...most great authors wrote from a place of pain, their words laden with suffering, but through this inked art form I would like to think that a shred of health and sanity was salvaged just by sharing their words. and to that I dedicate this blog.
